The Lexus LBX Morizo RR appears to be getting an even more performance-focused version, with new spy shots from the Nürburgring showing subtle exterior changes that point to a hotter variant of the sporty SUV.
The updates suggest Lexus is focusing on functional aerodynamics and weight reduction rather than simply adding more power. The new model would join a growing group of Lexus performance vehicles, including the existing LBX Morizo RR.
Lexus LBX Gets More Aggressive Aero
The most noticeable change at the front is a more pronounced splitter, which should help reduce lift. The roof is also covered, potentially indicating that Lexus has fitted a lightweight carbon-fiber roof skin similar to the one used on the GR Corolla Morizo Edition.
Along the sides, the prototype features slightly extended side skirts that visually match the larger front splitter. Lexus has also covered the fender flares, which could indicate that they have been enlarged to accommodate wider wheels and tires, although the spy images do not confirm that.
Rear Design Hints at Functional Changes
The rear of the prototype also shows several subtle revisions. The rear wing appears to have been reshaped and features new air passages through its middle section.
The rear bumper has also been revised. The lower bumper garnish appears to include its own air pass-through, a feature that is not present on the standard model.
Performance Upgrades Could Go Beyond Styling
The exterior changes appear to be centered on functional aerodynamics and reducing weight, suggesting that those areas could be among the model’s key performance upgrades.
Suspension changes and possible driveline upgrades are also expected to play a role, rather than a major increase in engine output. That approach would be similar to the recent GR Corolla GRMN.
Limited Production Likely for Hotter Morizo RR
The hotter Morizo RR is not expected to go as far as the GR Corolla in terms of performance changes, specifically by removing the rear seats. However, it will probably carry a high price and could have limited production.
The model is also not expected to come to America, since the regular Lexus LBX is not currently sold in the United States.
The Nürburgring prototype indicates that Lexus is continuing to explore a more aggressive version of the LBX Morizo RR, with the visible changes focused primarily on aerodynamics, weight and performance hardware.
