The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring with changes that appear to point toward a new Weissach Package. The high-performance SUV retains its combustion engine, while subtle exterior revisions and possible weight-saving upgrades suggest Porsche may be preparing a more focused variation.

Subtle Changes Point to a New Weissach Package

The black Cayenne was photographed in action on the Nürburgring on the same day Porsche announced that its sale of Bugatti Rimac was complete. While Porsche has been backtracking on its EV plans and dealing with financial difficulties, this prototype offers a look at the brand’s combustion-powered performance development.

The Cayenne Turbo GT does not match the power of the new Turbo Electric, but the model’s performance-focused character remains evident. The prototype appears to feature a new Weissach Package, with several subtle changes visible around the front fascia.

The central grille appears slightly larger, while the flanking air intakes look somewhat wider. The lower lip also appears more prominent, although the differences are subtle enough that they may be difficult to notice at a glance.

Prototype Hides More Changes

The headlights remain covered with a film that conceals additional changes. More tape is visible around the rear of the vehicle, particularly near the corners of the rear fascia.

Those areas could conceal new vents, although the exact purpose of the potential openings is not stated. The possible changes are consistent with the possibility of a more aero-focused Weissach version.

Weight Reduction Could Be the Main Focus

The most significant Weissach changes may not be visible from the outside. Weight reduction is a primary goal of the package, meaning the hood and roof on this prototype could use carbon-fiber reinforced plastic.

Additional carbon fiber could also be used for components such as the wings. Under the skin, suspension components could receive upgrades as they do on cars such as the 911 GT3.

The prototype appears to use standard 22-inch wheels, although optional lightweight magnesium wheels could be offered.

Possible Interior Changes

The interior of the prototype cannot be seen, but Weissach interior upgrades often include additional carbon fiber and anti-glare materials designed to help the driver see high-speed corners.

Some versions can also feature barebones door panels. However, with the Cayenne remaining a five-seat SUV, the changes are not expected to go quite that far.

Cayenne Turbo GT Keeps Its V8

The Cayenne Turbo GT is powered by a 650-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8. That output is considerably lower than the 1,139 hp produced by the electric Cayenne Turbo.

Despite the power difference, the combustion-only Cayenne Turbo GT is already one of the lightest performance SUVs on the market at around 4,700 pounds. Its combination of relatively low weight and 650 horsepower makes it one of the quickest SUVs in the world.

The prototype’s subtle exterior changes and potential weight-saving components point toward a possible Weissach upgrade for the Cayenne Turbo GT, while the vehicle continues to rely on its combustion-powered performance formula.
