The Dodge Charger Sixpack is getting a new exhaust option aimed at bringing out more of its real engine sound. Priced at $3,359, MagnaFlow’s SPEQ Series system replaces the exhaust components behind the catalytic converters while retaining the factory active exhaust valves.

MagnaFlow Keeps the Charger’s Active Exhaust

The SPEQ Series uses 3-inch mandrel-bent 304 stainless-steel tubing, a Tru-X crossover designed to manage exhaust pulses, and a pair of straight-through mufflers.

Importantly, the system does not eliminate the Charger’s factory active exhaust functionality. It uses its own cast stainless steel actuated valves that continue to respond to the car’s drive modes rather than keeping the exhaust loud at all times.

Addressing the Sixpack’s Exhaust Sound

The system arrives as reviewers have raised concerns about the Charger Sixpack’s factory engine sound. Autoblog’s reviewers called the factory synthetic engine sound “embarrassing,” while describing the actual exhaust note underneath as “legitimately good” once the artificial sound was switched off.

That real exhaust character still does not deliver the raucous bark of the Hemi V8 it replaced. A separate test of the four-door R/T reached a similar conclusion, with the reviewers preferring a custom drive mode that disabled the fake sound entirely.

MagnaFlow’s SPEQ system is therefore focused on bringing more of the real exhaust character forward instead of relying on the manufactured layer added by Dodge.

Designed Specifically for the Hurricane Six

The Hurricane six is offered in two states of tune depending on trim, producing 420 hp in the R/T and up to 550 hp in the Scat Pack. MagnaFlow designed the SPEQ system’s flow characteristics specifically around that engine rather than adapting a generic muscle-car exhaust.

Exterior sound is rated “moderate,” while interior sound is rated “mild.” The system also features proprietary no-drone tuning intended to keep highway cruising civil.

Visually, the exhaust is finished with dual 4.5-inch black chrome tips featuring laser-etched MagnaFlow branding. The system is backed by a limited lifetime construction warranty.

Pricing for the SPEQ Series

At $3,359 before installation, the MagnaFlow SPEQ Series is not a cheap add-on. However, the system directly targets the exhaust character that has been identified as a key weakness of the Sixpack.

By retaining active exhaust functionality while focusing on the Hurricane engine’s real exhaust note, the SPEQ Series offers a specific response to complaints about the Charger’s factory sound.
