Ford Mustang GTD production has surpassed 650 units as Ford and Multimatic continue ramping up production of the limited-edition supercar, with 655 examples now completed since production began at the start of 2025.
The Mustang GTD first appeared more than three years ago, on August 17, 2023. Built by motorsport specialists Multimatic in Canada, the complex model has taken time to reach a steady production pace, but output has accelerated significantly through 2026.
Ford Mustang GTD Production Reaches 655 Units
Multimatic completed just two Mustang GTD units in January 2025 and none in February. Production then increased to three in March, one in April, 10 in May and 31 in June.
By the second half of the year, production had settled into a much stronger rhythm. Multimatic built 35 GTDs in July, 36 in August, 41 in September, 31 in October, 41 in November and 40 in December, bringing 2025 production to 271 units.
Production has moved even higher in 2026. Multimatic completed 42 units in January, 40 in February, 44 in March, 44 in April, 49 in May and 58 in June. July followed with 57 units, while August production reached 50.
That brought 2026 production to 384 units through August. Combined with the 271 units completed in 2025, total Mustang GTD production has reached 655 units.
The current total represents more than one-third of the initial production target. Production is expected to be limited to roughly 1,700 units, although that figure could rise to 2,000 if demand for 500 units per year is sustained.
With a conservative average of 40 units produced per month across September, October, November and December 2026, Ford and Multimatic remain on course to reach their annual production target.
Mustang GTD Options Affect Production Rates
The varying monthly production figures are linked to the extensive range of options available for the $300,000+ Mustang GTD. Ford offers the supercar in numerous colors, including Lamborghini hues, alongside specialized packages and paint choices.
Buyers can select the Spirit of America package or the Exclusive Extended Color Palette Lock-Out Option, which comes with the promise that no other Mustang GTD will ever be painted in the same hue.
The Liquid Carbon GTD is even more labor-intensive because the exposed carbon fiber weave of the composite bodywork must line up perfectly. The process was formerly associated only with cars such as Pagani.
The only paint option unavailable to GTD buyers is color-shifting Mystichrome, which is considered too difficult despite being offered on the much cheaper RTR Mustang at $15,995.
Competition Package Adds Another Variable
Ford Mustang GTD buyers will also have access to the Competition package, which will provide even more extreme performance. However, it remains unclear whether Ford will count those examples separately from the production run of the “regular” Mustang GTD.
For now, the production figures show a substantial increase in output as Multimatic continues building Ford’s limited-edition supercar, with 655 Mustang GTD units completed through August 2026.
