The BMW X5 is entering its final year in the current G05 generation, with the next-generation model preparing to reach dealers. Despite its upcoming retirement, the 2026 X5 remains a strong choice and has continued to rank among BMW’s top-selling models worldwide, even outselling the X3 in the U.S. so far this year.
BMW X5 Enters Its Final Model Year
More than 25 years after BMW launched the X5, the luxury crossover continues to hold a strong position in the lineup. With the current generation nearing the end of its run, BMW is making no updates to the outgoing model for 2026.
The fourth-generation X5 remains available in four trims: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e and M60i. Buyers will also need to get used to the “i”-less designations planned for the all-new model.
2026 BMW X5 Lease Deals
Lease offers for the X5 have remained relatively steady, providing an option for shoppers who missed earlier deals. Prices vary by area, but overall movement has been minimal.

What the 2026 BMW X5 Offers
Base prices for the 2026 BMW X5 range from $68,300 to $93,600 across its four available trims.
Because there are no changes for the 2026 model year, the outgoing X5 continues with standard features including Active Driving Assist, Active Protection, front seat heaters, a panoramic sunroof and a power-adjustable steering column.
The Premium Package adds a Harman/Kardon audio system, remote engine start and a head-up display. The Executive Package includes soft-close doors, glass controls and the Panoramic Sky sunroof.
M Sport packages are available for the 40i and 50e models and come standard on the M60i.
BMW X5 Engine Options
The 40i versions of the X5 use a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six producing 375 horsepower. The xDrive50e combines the same turbocharged six-cylinder engine with an electric motor to deliver 483 horsepower.
For buyers seeking V8 power without stepping up to the full M model, the M60i uses a 4.4-liter engine producing 523 horsepower.
The Fourth-Generation X5 Nears the End
Although the fourth-generation BMW X5 is set to bow out in a few months, it continues to offer a combination of comfort, dynamics and practicality. The current model’s polished package has helped establish it as a class leader.
With the next-generation X5 preparing to arrive, the outgoing model’s remaining availability gives buyers an opportunity to choose the current generation before stock runs out.
