The GFG Peralta D has debuted with a distinctive handcrafted copper body and a grand touring design based on the Maserati GranTurismo. Built for Mexican businessman Carlos Peralta, the custom car was unveiled at the 2026 Pastejé Automotive Invitational in Mexico over the weekend.
The Peralta D follows last year’s Peralta S, offering a different interpretation of the same design inspiration. Its copper exterior, expansive glass surfaces and unconventional cabin access give the latest model a distinctive appearance.
GFG Peralta D Builds on the Peralta S Design
The Peralta D is the second custom design created for Carlos Peralta. The D in its name represents his bond with his daughters, while the S in Peralta S represents his connection with his sons.
Both vehicles draw inspiration from the wedge-shaped 1972 Maserati Boomerang concept, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, father of GFG founder Fabrizio Giugiaro.
The two cars differ in their layouts and underlying platforms. The Peralta D is a 2+2 grand tourer based on the Maserati GranTurismo, while the Peralta S is a two-seat model based on the Maserati MC20.
What Powers the Copper-Bodied Peralta D?
The powertrain has not been disclosed. However, the Peralta D’s GranTurismo underpinnings suggest it could use Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine.
The engine produces 483 horsepower in the GranTurismo’s base Modena version and 543 hp in the more powerful Trofeo. The GranTurismo is also available as the all-electric Folgore, but the Peralta D’s tailpipes indicate a combustion engine lies beneath its sculpted hood.
Handcrafted Copper Defines the Exterior
The Peralta D combines expansive glass surfaces with copper panels hammered into shape entirely by hand. The entire structure is not made from copper; instead, the chassis uses aluminum with carbon-fiber support structures.
The greenhouse features mirrored glass tinted to match the copper bodywork, creating a unified appearance. The donor car’s original doors and windows have been removed and replaced with a forward-lifting canopy, a feature also found on the Peralta S.
Unique to the Peralta D are small gullwing doors that provide access to the rear seats. The design draws on a concept Giorgetto Giugiaro developed in the 1960s for the original De Tomaso Mangusta.
Copper Accents Continue Inside the Cabin
The interior extends the exterior theme with metallic-effect leather upholstery, perforated Alcantara details and stitching made from genuine copper thread.
The symmetrical dashboard includes a makeup station for the passenger, while a concealed refrigerator in the center console can hold a bottle of champagne and four copper flutes.
With its hand-hammered copper body, distinctive canopy and coordinated interior details, the Peralta D offers a new interpretation of the custom grand tourer while building on the design direction established by the Peralta S.
