The Revolution HyperSport, an ambitious new track-focused race car from UK-based Revolution Race Cars, is approaching production with performance figures that exceed its original targets. Powered by a turbocharged engine and weighing just 680 kilograms, the lightweight machine delivers 515 horsepower per ton while combining high performance with reliability and usability.

Revolution HyperSport Exceeds Its Power-to-Weight Target

When Revolution first revealed the HyperSport, the company was targeting a power-to-weight ratio of slightly more than 430 horsepower per ton. The latest specifications have pushed that figure considerably higher, reaching 515 horsepower per ton.

The car uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 350 horsepower. With an empty weight of just 680 kilograms, or approximately 1,500 pounds, the HyperSport delivers performance figures comparable to those of many high-end supercars.

Production is now well underway, with the company continuing to refine the car ahead of its arrival.

Revolution managing director Nigel Redwood said the company focused on making the HyperSport usable, reliable and rewarding rather than simply pursuing headline performance figures.

The HyperSport has undergone extensive testing at racetracks in a range of weather conditions, from cold and rainy environments to temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lightweight Construction and Racing Eligibility

The HyperSport is already eligible for 10 racing series across Europe and North America, giving it a broad range of potential competition opportunities.

The car combines the usability of GT3 and GT4 race cars with performance comparable to prototype racers. Extensive use of carbon fiber helps keep its weight down.

The vehicle has also been engineered to exceed FIA safety standards, with crash testing producing results that demonstrate the strength of its construction.

In one example, sections of the chassis were subjected to loads of two tons and recorded displacement well below the FIA’s maximum allowable threshold.

Revolution HyperSport Price and Production Plans

Revolution says the HyperSport will cost less than £120,000, equivalent to slightly more than $160,000 at current exchange rates.

Although the price places it firmly in the high-performance track car market, the vehicle brings together the company’s experience in racing engineering and development.

Revolution founder and technical director Phil Abbott said the HyperSport represents the lessons learned by the company as it approaches its 10th anniversary, adding that the project aims to introduce something entirely new.

With production underway, the HyperSport represents Revolution’s latest effort to deliver a lightweight race car that combines exceptional performance, extensive safety engineering and broad racing eligibility.
