The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is introducing a comfort feature designed to make braking smoother. Smooth Stop automatically reduces braking pressure just before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, helping minimize the forward-and-backward motion passengers may experience.
The feature joins the Rogue Hybrid’s e-Power system, cabin comfort upgrades and enhanced driver-assistance technology as Nissan updates its compact crossover for the 2027 model year.
How Smooth Stop Works
The Rogue Hybrid’s e-Power system uses electric motors to drive the wheels, while the engine serves as a generator. The setup provides an EV-like driving experience without range anxiety.
Smooth Stop is inspired by a technique known as a “limo stop.” It automatically eases braking pressure just before the vehicle comes to a full stop, reducing the jolt passengers may feel.
Drivers can maintain pressure on the brake pedal without manually adjusting it to smooth out the stop.
Comfort Features Aim to Set the Rogue Hybrid Apart
The 2027 Rogue Hybrid adds several features focused on improving the cabin experience.
Nissan has added sound-deadening materials in noise-prone areas, including the wheel wells. Concealed windshield wipers, door-mounted side mirrors and slim roof rails are also designed to reduce wind noise.
The cabin includes Zero Gravity seats, soft-touch materials and generous front headroom. Available ventilated front seats have been redesigned to reduce operating noise.
Nissan says front and rear passengers can maintain normal conversations even at highway speeds.
Updated ProPilot Assist Technology
The Rogue Hybrid also receives an upgraded ProPilot Assist driver-assistance system, with a new front camera offering a 20% wider field of view, increased object-detection range and improved steering control for lane centering.
Available features include Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support, which enables hands-free steering at speeds below 30 mph, and Auto Lane Change, which requires the driver to keep their hands on the wheel.
The system was developed and tested in California.
Nissan Rogue Hybrid Faces Strong Competition
The Rogue is Nissan’s best-selling model in the United States, but its sales remain below those of its main competitors.
In 2025, Nissan sold 217,896 Rogues, compared with 479,288 Toyota RAV4s and 403,768 Honda CR-Vs.
For the 2027 model year, Nissan is introducing a new series-hybrid system and a more comfort-focused driving experience. How those changes will affect the Rogue’s position in the segment remains to be seen.
