Project Colossus Is More Than a Classic Power Wagon
Modern heavy-duty pickups deliver four-figure torque, factory off-road models are built for Baja-style terrain, and powerful electric trucks are entering the market. For custom builders, standing out from these factory efforts has become a challenge.
Project Colossus takes a different approach, adding a third axle and transforming a modern performance truck into a six-wheel-drive machine wearing vintage Power Wagon bodywork.
The truck is essentially a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, retaining its independent front suspension, adjustable off-road shocks, factory drive modes and supercharged 6.2-liter V8.
Unlike a standard TRX, however, Project Colossus features a second solid rear axle that is fully functional. The truck also rides on upgraded 18-inch wheels wrapped in 38-inch tires.
Six-Wheel Drive and 1,000 Horsepower
The additional axle, larger tires and increased drivetrain demands prompted substantial engine upgrades.
The supercharged V8 receives a more aggressive camshaft, different valve springs and pushrods, long-tube headers, an upgraded supercharger with a smaller pulley, larger fuel injectors and revised tuning.
These modifications bring output to 1,000 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque, giving the massive truck plenty of power to match its imposing proportions.
Classic Power Wagon Body With a Luxury TRX Interior
The modern TRX hardware is concealed beneath a custom Power Wagon body built by Tisdale Coachworks.
The cabin also comes from the TRX, but nearly every surface has been covered in distressed brown leather upholstery. Additional upgrades include a starlight headliner and a JL audio system.
The result combines vintage truck styling with modern performance hardware and a heavily customized interior.

The asking price is $599,950, equivalent to roughly $100,000 for each driven wheel. That makes the custom build about six times the price of a new Ram 1500 TRX SRT.
