Rolls-Royce is attracting a younger generation of wealthy buyers, with its average customer now 43 years old, down from 56 before 2010. The British luxury automaker has maintained its traditional appeal while adapting its vehicles, bespoke offerings and showroom experiences to connect with younger affluent shoppers.

Rolls-Royce Average Buyer Age Drops to 43

Rolls-Royce has long been associated with traditional luxury, established wealth and older customers. However, its customer base has changed significantly, with older millennials now making up a growing part of its clientele.

Julian Jenkins, director of sales and brand for Rolls-Royce, said the average customer is now 43 years old. Before 2010, that figure stood at 56.

The brand is also gaining attention among younger ultra-wealthy buyers in some markets, including Gen Z customers. China has played a role in that shift, with some of the company’s youngest clients there in their mid-to-late 20s.

How the Cullinan and Bespoke Models Attracted Younger Buyers

The Cullinan has helped bring younger customers to Rolls-Royce, but it is not the only factor behind the changing demographics.

The automaker’s Black Badge lineup and bespoke creations have also contributed to the shift. Its highly exclusive Coachbuild division, which includes models such as the Boat Tail and Droptail, has generated interest among younger affluent shoppers.

These vehicles have helped Rolls-Royce appeal to customers seeking highly personalized and exclusive luxury experiences.

Rolls-Royce Showrooms Are Becoming Luxury Destinations

As its customer base evolves, Rolls-Royce has reimagined the showroom experience. Rather than focusing solely on vehicle sales, some locations are being transformed into immersive spaces designed to bring clients together.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Beverly Hills is one example. The dealership features the Black Badge Lounge, a speakeasy-inspired lounge and bar that has become a destination for current and prospective owners.

The redesigned space offers clients an experience beyond a traditional showroom visit, making the location more welcoming and less focused on transactions.

Other luxury automakers are pursuing similar strategies. Bentley introduced a boutique-style redesign at Jack Barclay Bentley in London, with much of the store dedicated to a bar that also serves as the reception area.

Mercedes is also developing standalone stores for its Maybach division, aiming to provide a more exclusive experience than a conventional Mercedes-Benz showroom.

Rolls-Royce Is Adapting Luxury for a New Generation

Baby boomers, who once represented a significant share of Rolls-Royce sales, are gradually becoming a smaller part of the customer base.

Rather than relying exclusively on tradition, the automaker has maintained its core identity while adjusting its approach to appeal to younger wealthy buyers.

Personalization has long been important to Rolls-Royce customers. The difference today is the company’s renewed emphasis on bespoke luxury, with buyers willing to spend substantially more to customize their vehicles.

The shift is not simply a generational change in buying habits. Rolls-Royce has refined its approach to luxury while adapting to changing customer expectations.

With a younger average buyer, exclusive models and redesigned showroom experiences, the automaker is evolving its business while preserving the identity that has defined the brand for generations.
