Porsche is upgrading the digital experience in four of its models with a next-generation infotainment system offering up to five times the computing power of its predecessor. The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system brings faster performance, an updated interface, AI-powered voice controls and expanded app integration to the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne.
New Porsche PCM Delivers Up to 5x More Computing Power
The latest PCM system is built on new hardware featuring a modern system-on-chip architecture, delivering faster startup times, shorter loading times and smoother operation.
The increased computing power allows drivers to run multiple applications simultaneously, with apps remaining active in the background and becoming available more quickly when switching between them.
The system also supports future digital functions and ongoing software development through comprehensive over-the-air updates. Software and selected features can continue to evolve throughout vehicle ownership.
Porsche Digital Interaction Brings a New Interface
The updated interface introduces the design and interaction language first developed for the Cayenne Electric to the 911, Taycan, Panamera and combustion-engine and hybrid versions of the Cayenne through Porsche Digital Interaction.
The system combines modern user experience and user interface design with consistent operating logic and extensive personalization options. The interface features clear layouts, quick responses and a unified experience across the vehicle’s displays.
One of its key features is a freely rotatable 3D model of the vehicle displayed in its actual exterior color. Drivers can access selected vehicle functions and settings directly through the virtual car.
The interface also includes five selectable themes and configurable widgets, allowing users to personalize the digital environment.
Navigation Plus Adds 3D Maps and Real-Time Traffic
The new PCM system introduces an updated Navigation Plus experience featuring modern mapping technology and a 3D map display.
Route guidance uses online map data and real-time traffic information. In the Taycan, the Porsche Charging Planner can organize charging stops while accounting for battery preconditioning.
AI-Powered Voice Pilot Supports Natural Language
Porsche has enhanced Voice Pilot with artificial intelligence powered by an unnamed large language model (LLM).
The upgraded assistant can understand natural-language commands, multi-step requests and follow-up questions. It can also control navigation, selected vehicle functions, media and compatible apps.
New App Center Expands Digital Integration
The next-generation infotainment system brings together Porsche’s digital services, smartphone applications and third-party platforms through standardized interfaces.
The new App Center allows customers to select, download and update Porsche and third-party apps directly in the vehicle. Available services include navigation, parking and charging applications, as well as audio and video streaming.
Apple Music is now available directly in the vehicle for the first time, with support for Dolby Atmos. Compatible applications accessed through Apple CarPlay can also use Dolby Atmos.
Smartphone integration has been expanded to include features such as map displays in the instrument cluster and electric vehicle routing with battery preconditioning, depending on the market.
New Porsche Infotainment System Won’t Be Available as a Retrofit
Porsche will gradually introduce the new PCM generation and Porsche Digital Interaction in newly produced vehicles across the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne model lines.
However, existing vehicles will not be eligible for a retrofit installation of the new infotainment system, meaning the upgraded digital features will be limited to newly produced models.
