The 2027 Nissan Rogue e-Power hybrid has been spotted on American roads ahead of its U.S. launch later this year, offering an early look at Nissan’s upcoming electrified compact crossover and its distinctive hybrid system.
2027 Nissan Rogue Spotted in Long Beach
Spy photos shared by KindelAuto on Instagram show a preproduction 2027 Nissan Rogue in Long Beach, California. The redesigned model should look familiar to those who saw Nissan’s official reveal in April 2026.
The vehicle pictured wears a color similar to Baja Storm Metallic, a shade commonly seen on the outgoing Rogue Rock Creek. An e-Power badge is also visible at the rear, identifying the hybrid powertrain.
The spied Rogue also carries a Tennessee license plate and an SR badge, which traditionally denotes a sportier design package. Blacked-out exterior accents give the vehicle a sportier appearance compared with chrome trim.
How Nissan’s e-Power Hybrid System Works
Nissan’s e-Power technology has been available since 2016, beginning with the Note, but the upcoming Rogue will mark its U.S. debut.
The system is designed to provide greater fuel efficiency and an EV-like driving experience while allowing drivers to refuel at a traditional gas station. Unlike conventional hybrid configurations, the gasoline engine serves solely as a generator, while electric motors alone drive the wheels.
That configuration is known as a series hybrid. It differs from the power-split series-parallel system used in the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
Qashqai e-Power Highlights Efficiency Potential
The latest-generation Qashqai e-Power demonstrated the potential of the powertrain during a Guinness World Records run in Colombia in July 2026, covering 1,230 miles on a single tank.
The Qashqai, known as the Rogue Sport in the U.S., is smaller and lighter than the Rogue. Still, the result highlights the efficiency potential of Nissan’s e-Power system.
What the Rogue’s Interior Could Look Like
Nissan has not shared interior photos of the particular vehicle spotted in California. However, earlier leaked images from the Middle East suggest the cabin could feature a switch-type shifter, an infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster framed within a single housing.
The leaked images also suggest a two-spoke steering wheel could replace the outgoing model’s three-spoke design.
Nissan’s Hybrid Plans for the Rogue
Nissan will launch the 2027 Rogue Hybrid e-Power in late 2026, with a gas-only version scheduled to follow in 2027.
The new Rogue is expected to help Nissan remain competitive in the compact-crossover segment while capitalizing on growing U.S. demand for hybrids amid slowing EV growth.
The company has also reportedly indicated that additional e-Power models could follow in the U.S., with the Kicks considered a possible candidate.
