Chevrolet brought two real-world vehicles into the Pixar Universe for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, transforming a 2026 Chevrolet Colorado and 2027 Chevrolet Bolt with designs inspired by Ramone and Flo from Disney and Pixar’s Cars franchise.

Ramone and Flo Become Chevrolets

The Colorado was transformed into Ramone, a natural fit given the character’s Chevrolet connection. Pixar describes Ramone as a 1959 Impala low-rider who owns Radiator Springs’ custom body and paint shop.

The Bolt took on the appearance of Flo, a 1950s-inspired show car and manager of Flo’s V-8 Café. GM says the character was inspired in part by the 1951 Buick XP-300.

Both vehicles were displayed at Chevrolet’s branded booth during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which also coincided with the 20th anniversary of Cars.

The Colorado Required More Complex Wrapping

Although both vehicles received custom wraps, the process was more complicated for the Colorado. GM says the Bolt’s continuous-color design allowed its wrap to be divided into panels based on the areas being covered.

The Colorado’s gradient-heavy graphics required more careful planning. Even the truck’s door handles received their own separate printed panels.

The materials also differed between the two vehicles. The Bolt used a conventional wrap film, while the Colorado received a silver metallic specialty film designed to replicate the appearance of paint with metallic flake.

Applying both wraps took about a week in total.

Why Chevrolet Used a Gas Vehicle and an EV

The choice of the Colorado and Bolt was deliberate. GM says it used one internal combustion vehicle and one EV to reflect its strategy of continuing to offer gasoline-powered vehicles while expanding its electric lineup.

GM also faced the challenge of making the vehicles recognizable as Ramone and Flo without completely concealing the Colorado and Bolt underneath. The goal was to preserve the characters’ recognizable designs while allowing the underlying vehicles and their sheet metal to remain visible.

Rather than serving as literal recreations of the animated characters, the two vehicles represent real-world interpretations of Ramone and Flo.

Chevrolet and Disney Share a Long History

The 20th anniversary of Cars provided the immediate reason for the display, but Chevrolet and Disney have worked together for decades. Their relationship dates back to GM’s World of Motion attraction, which opened at EPCOT in 1982.

GM remains the official vehicle sponsor of Walt Disney World Resort and the presenting sponsor of Test Track, making the D23 display another part of the companies’ long-running relationship.

Not Planned for Production

Neither vehicle will enter production as a Cars-themed special edition. The Colorado and Bolt were created specifically for the D23 display.

The result puts a cartoon-inspired low-rider treatment on the Colorado and transforms the Bolt into the character who runs Radiator Springs’ V-8 Café, giving Chevrolet a distinctly different kind of auto-show display.
