The Corvette Grand Sport X has arrived as the latest addition to Chevy’s rapidly expanding C8-generation lineup, positioned above the base Stingray and standard Grand Sport but below the Z06. Chevy has now launched the online configurator, revealing how quickly the new model’s price can climb with options and how it compares with the Z06.
Corvette Grand Sport X Price and Options
The Grand Sport X uses a 6.7-liter V8 producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, paired with an electric motor that drives the front wheels. Together, the system produces 721 horsepower and gives the Corvette all-wheel-drive traction.
Chevy claims the Grand Sport X can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 10.4 seconds.
The model’s previously confirmed base price is $109,700. Choosing the 3LT trim increases the MSRP to $120,350 before options, while several available upgrades can push the final price substantially higher.
- Five-spoke visible carbon fiber wheels with red stripe: $15,500
- Visible carbon fiber ground effects: $4,495
- Front lift system with memory: $2,995
- Engine cross brace in visible carbon fiber: $2,895
- Sueded microfiber frunk/trunk compartment: $2,695
- Dual roof: $2,525
- Visible carbon fiber grille insert: $2,495
- Carbon Flash metallic-painted three-stanchion high wing spoiler: $2,075
- Grand Sport Launch Edition Package: $1,995
- Rear hatch strut bracket in Edge Red: $1,995
- Quad exit center exhaust: $1,995
- Coupe Engine Appearance Package: $1,895
Adding those options along with several other accessories brought the total price, including destination, to $167,180.
The Grand Sport Launch Edition Package is particularly notable because it includes a Santorini Blue Dipped interior and adds a touch of drama and exclusivity. However, the package is only available on the 3LT.
For the 1LT, the quad exit center exhaust, special paint and one of the graphics packs are options worth considering. Those selections bring the total to around $116,000.
Corvette Grand Sport X vs. Z06
For buyers with more than $100,000 to spend on a new Corvette, the choice between the Grand Sport X and Z06 presents a significant dilemma. The Z06 starts at $118,900, putting it relatively close to the Grand Sport X’s $109,700 starting price.
| Specification | Grand Sport X | Z06 |
|---|---|---|
| Base Price | $109,700 | $118,900 |
| Engine | 6.7L V8 and electric motor | 5.5L V8 |
| Horsepower | 721 hp | 670 hp |
| Torque | 520 lb-ft (engine only) | 460 lb-ft |
| Drivetrain | AWD | RWD |
| Transmission | 8-speed dual-clutch auto | 8-speed dual-clutch auto |
| 0-60 mph | 2.4 seconds | 2.6 seconds |
| Quarter-mile sprint | 10.4 seconds | 10.6 seconds |
On paper, the Grand Sport X is quicker than the Z06 and offers the advantage of standard all-wheel drive. It is also designed with everyday use in mind, while its electric-only Stealth Mode allows for silent driving.
Grand Sport X or Z06?
The Z06 has the advantage for drivers focused on thrills and track days. Its high-revving V8 uses a flat-plane crank and has an 8,600-rpm red line, giving it a more engaging character and an especially emotive exhaust note.
Combined with rear-wheel drive, the Z06 is less forgiving but more rewarding for enthusiasts. The Grand Sport X, meanwhile, offers quicker acceleration, all-wheel drive and characteristics that favor everyday driving.
For buyers who already have another vehicle for daily use, the Z06 has the edge. For those choosing a Corvette as an everyday car, the Grand Sport X comes out ahead.
