The new BMW X5 is taking a major styling departure from its predecessors, and the aftermarket is already preparing to give the redesigned luxury crossover an even more distinctive appearance. Waido has introduced a widebody kit for the fifth-generation X5, offering a sportier look ahead of the model’s arrival at dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2026.

A Radical New Look for the BMW X5

From the first generation through the fourth, the BMW X5 followed an evolutionary styling path. Although the SUV steadily grew larger, its design remained clearly connected to the original X5 that premiered in 1999.

The fifth-generation model changes that approach dramatically, both inside and out. The new design represents a significant shift for BMW’s best-selling crossover, but the X5 name remains expected to drive strong demand.

Waido Brings a Widebody Treatment

The redesigned X5 is available with an M Sport package, while M Performance parts could potentially follow. Meanwhile, the aftermarket has already identified the new SUV as a platform for customization, with Waido among the first companies to act.

Waido is relatively young in the aftermarket business and appears to focus largely on widebody kits for SUVs. Its previous projects have included the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Lamborghini Urus.

With the new BMW X5 already receiving the widebody treatment, more customized versions of the SUV could soon follow.

Inside the Waido BMW X5 Kit

Waido’s approach gives the X5 a wider stance without pushing the design to an extreme. The difference from the standard vehicle is clear, but the modifications remain relatively restrained, giving the SUV something of a GT-racer appearance.

The kit adds a deep front chin reminiscent of what could fit on an M5, along with ground-hugging side skirts and aggressive rear diffusers. The rear spoiler also receives an additional pair of strakes.

BMW X5 Widebody Kit Can Be Pre-Ordered

Customers looking to make the new X5 stand out can already pre-order the Waido kit through the company’s official channels. However, the redesigned BMW X5 itself is not scheduled to reach dealers until the fourth quarter of 2026.

That means the aftermarket kit is ready before the new SUVs begin arriving in showrooms. The modifications are focused on appearance rather than performance, so the kit will not make the X5 faster.

Designed for Style, Not Off-Roading

The new-generation X5 is expected to be quick regardless of engine option, while buyers waiting for the X5 M may also find the widebody kit worth considering.

As for concerns about taking the modified SUV off pavement, BMW has said that people who actually buy these vehicles do not typically send them off-road. For those customers, Waido’s kit offers a more aggressive visual treatment for BMW’s radically redesigned X5.
