The Lexus RX is set for a major update focused less on exterior styling and more on comfort, convenience and features under the skin. The refreshed Lexus RX is expected to debut in late September 2026, but the changes reported so far are limited to Japan, with prices rising by as much as 400,000 yen.

The Biggest Lexus RX Changes Are Inside

According to Creative Trend, a website known for reliable dealer information, Lexus is adding several features aimed at making the RX easier and more comfortable to use.

One of the key additions is an Auto Brake Hold memory function. The system will remember the driver’s setting instead of requiring it to be reset each time the vehicle is started or the seatbelt is unbuckled.

Lexus is also expanding its use of IR-cut glass. The heat-reducing glass, previously limited to the windshield, will now be fitted to the side windows as well.

The company is further adjusting the RX’s suspension and electric power steering. While the report does not mention new hardware, it says the changes should improve ride comfort and steering feel.

Exterior Changes Remain Minimal

The Lexus RX will receive several visual updates, although they are subtle. Sonic Quartz will be replaced by White Nova Glass Flake as the primary white exterior color.

F SPORT models will also replace their orange brake calipers with red ones. Meanwhile, the RX500h will lose its special DIRECT4 badge and instead use the same AWD badge found across the rest of the RX lineup.

More Standard Equipment Comes With Higher Prices

Lexus is adding several previously optional features to standard equipment depending on the trim. These include a digital key, front and rear dashcams, ITS Connect, wireless charging, a digital rearview mirror, a cold-weather package and a 1,500-watt AC outlet.

The regular moonroof will be discontinued, while the panoramic roof will remain available.

The added equipment will come at a higher price. Creative Trend reports that Japanese prices will increase by 260,000 to 400,000 yen, equivalent to about $1,770 to $2,720.

The RX350h will receive the largest price increase, while the RX450h+ and RX500h will see smaller increases.

Lexus RX Refresh Set for September Debut

The refreshed Lexus RX is expected to officially break cover in late September 2026, with sales in Japan scheduled to begin October 1.

For now, the reported changes apply only to Japan. Lexus has not said whether North America will receive the same updates or when they could arrive.
