The 2027 Mini Cooper S Rooftop Edition brings a playful twist to one of the brand’s most recognizable design elements, using contrasting colors across the Mini Cooper S 2 Door and 4 Door. The limited-edition release is part of Mini’s eight-drop celebration marking the 25th year of the modern Mini.

Mini Rooftop Edition Flips the Contrast

The Rooftop Edition is technically a double drop, with the same concept offered across two body styles. It follows several other Mini releases throughout 2026, including the 1965 Victory Edition, Red Line Edition, Paul Smith Editions and Heritage Edition.

The central idea behind the Rooftop Edition is the contrasting roof traditionally used as an accent on Mini models. For this limited run, Mini reverses that approach and makes the contrast the defining element of the exterior design.

The two models use Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic and Melting Silver III Metallic to create four distinct configurations across the 2-door and 4-door versions. The roof, mirror caps and decals that would normally provide contrasting accents are flipped between the two configurations.

Two Colors, Four Configurations

Customers can choose between Sunset Blue Metallic with Melting Silver III Metallic accents or the inverse color combination. The same choices are available with either the 2-door or 4-door Cooper S.

The paired designs effectively create a color-flipped version of one another, giving the Rooftop Edition a matched appearance across the two configurations.

Inside, Mini takes a more restrained approach. The cabin uses a black interior with John Cooper Works sport seats and subtle detailing, keeping the focus on the exterior color scheme.

Mini says the interior treatment is intentionally subtle so the exterior colors remain the primary visual focus.

2027 Mini Cooper S Rooftop Edition Performance

Both versions are based on the Mini Cooper S and use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 201 horsepower and 221 lbs-ft of torque.

Mini has not provided extensive additional specifications for the Rooftop Edition, but the available equipment includes the Iconic Trim with Comfort Package Plus. That package includes parking assistance, keyless entry and more.

The Rooftop Edition also comes with power front seats featuring active driver seat and lumbar support, along with piano black exterior trim.

Pricing and U.S. Availability

The Rooftop Edition package costs $1,595 on top of the base MSRP. The Mini Cooper S 2-Door Rooftop Edition starts at $39,995, plus $1,350 for destination and handling.

The 4-door version starts at $40,995, also with a $1,350 destination and handling charge.

Production of the 2027 Mini Cooper S Rooftop Edition is scheduled to begin in September 2026. The limited-edition models are expected to arrive at Mini dealers in the United States beginning in October 2026.

With its contrasting exterior colors, two body-style choices and limited-edition positioning, the Rooftop Edition continues Mini’s 2026 series of releases while putting a new emphasis on the brand’s signature contrasting roof design.
