The 2027 Ram Chassis Cab Night Edition made its public debut at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, bringing a blacked-out appearance package to Ram’s heavy-duty, upfitter-friendly work truck lineup.
Designed for vehicles that can be converted into utility trucks, flatbeds, ambulances, recreational vehicles, refrigerated box vans, and more, the new Night Edition applies a styling approach already familiar in retail pickups to Ram’s larger chassis cab models.
Blacked-Out Styling Comes to Ram’s Heavy-Duty Chassis Cabs
The package adds gloss black aluminum rims, black badging, and black accents on the Sport Performance hood. Body-color paint is used for the grille surround, front bumper, and fender flares.
“Our Chassis Cab customers depend on their trucks to perform demanding jobs every day, often at their maximum rated capability,” said Ram CEO Matt VanDyke. “The new Chassis Cab Night Edition is more than a tool. It’s a rolling representation of their company and another example of our commitment to offering customers more choice across the Ram lineup.”
2027 Ram Chassis Cab Towing and Payload Capacity
The Night Edition package is available on Laramie and Big Horn versions of the 2027 Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Regular Cab and Chassis Crew Cab.
The diesel- and gasoline-powered trucks can tow from 15,980 pounds in a Ram 3500 equipped with a Hemi V8 to 34,540 pounds in a Ram 5500 with the Cummins turbo diesel. Maximum payload ranges from 6,830 pounds in the 3500 to 12,370 pounds in the 5500.
Two Powertrain Options Available
The first powertrain option is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 rated at 375 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. Buyers seeking more pulling power can choose the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline six-cylinder engine, which produces 360 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of thrust.
Each engine is paired with a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission with an electronic column shifter.
The trucks are offered with four available industry-standard frame lengths measured in inches from the cab to the rear axle: CA 60, CA 84, CA 108, and CA 120.
Night Edition Pricing for Big Horn and Laramie Models
The Night Edition package carries an MSRP of $2,195 on Big Horn models equipped with the Level 1 or Level 2 equipment group. On the Laramie trim, the package costs $1,695.
The blacked-out equipment also includes front and rear park sensors, grille billets, and nostrils. Matte-black running boards shown in the pictures are not included and are offered as a stand-alone option, according to Ram.
Ram chassis cabs are built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico.
Orders Open in the Fourth Quarter
Night Editions are already offered on the Ram 1500 and Ram heavy-duty pickups, extending the blacked-out styling approach to a chassis cab segment more commonly associated with functional work vehicles.
Ram chassis cabs start around $50,000, excluding a destination charge of $2,795. The Cummins diesel engine costs an additional $9,995.
Orders for the 2027 Ram Chassis Cab Night Edition open in the fourth quarter, with availability scheduled for later in the year.
