Chrysler has announced a recall covering 2025-2026 Pacifica and Voyager minivans after a brake pedal position sensor issue could cause the electronic stability control (ESC) system to fail. The recall affects 2,017 vehicles, including a small number of Pacifica Plug-in Hybrids.

Brake Pedal Sensor Issue Triggers Recall

According to the recall report published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affected minivans may be equipped with a brake pedal position sensor containing a cracked capacitor.

The condition can cause the ESC warning light to illuminate and disable the ESC system, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. Some drivers may not notice any warning signs before the system fails.

The recall covers the following models and model years:

  • 2025-2026 Chrysler Pacifica: 1,652 units
  • 2025-2026 Chrysler Voyager: 357 units
  • 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid: 8 units

In total, 2,017 Chrysler minivans are potentially affected by the recall.

Which Chrysler Minivans Are Affected?

Only minivans built between June and late October 2025 are included in the recall. Some Pacifica models built until October 31, 2025, are among the latest vehicles covered, while minivans built after that date use different brake pedal position sensors.

The heavily refreshed 2027 Pacifica is not included in the recall.

The Voyager was essentially a cheaper, more basic version of the Pacifica. It has been discontinued for the 2027 model year and replaced by the Pacifica LX trim.

Electronic stability control became mandatory for all passenger vehicles sold in the United States as of the 2012 model year, meaning a fault affecting the system will automatically lead to a recall in most cases.

What Chrysler Owners Should Do

Chrysler minivan drivers may not experience any warning signs before the ESC system fails. However, an illuminated ESC light can indicate the condition covered by the recall.

Owners of affected vehicles should drive cautiously and immediately contact a dealer if the ESC light comes on. Dealers will inspect the brake pedal position sensor and replace it if necessary.

The automaker will send owner notification letters on September 29, 2026. As of September 9, owners can use their vehicle identification numbers (VINs) to search on the NHTSA site and determine whether their minivan is part of the recall.

Customers can also contact the automaker’s customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.

Chrysler Pacifica Remains a Top-Selling Minivan

The Chrysler Pacifica is currently the only model keeping Chrysler afloat in the U.S., while also ranking among the best-selling minivans on sale.

During the first half of 2026, Chrysler sold 67,120 Pacifica units, an increase of 16%. That sales total put the Pacifica ahead of the Toyota Sienna at 55,252 units, the Honda Odyssey at 42,846, and the Kia Carnival at 40,068. Those are the only other gas-powered minivans on sale in the country.

The 2027 Pacifica was introduced earlier in 2026 with a bold new face, revised feature availability and an enhanced safety specification. It continues to use the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 producing 287 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid variant has been discontinued.

The Pacifica also features a large, versatile cabin with segment-exclusive Stow ‘n Go seats. Unlike the Odyssey, it is available with all-wheel drive.

With only 2,017 minivans potentially affected, the recall represents a small percentage of Chrysler’s annual sales. The company’s Pacifica remains the brand’s leading model in the U.S. despite the ESC fault affecting a limited number of vehicles.
