Ford has announced three separate safety recalls covering 223,526 F-150 trucks in the U.S., with issues involving fuel tank straps, rear axle bearings and suspension fasteners. Ford says no crashes or injuries have been linked to the recalls, and all repairs will be completed free of charge.
Largest Recall Covers 223,472 F-150s
The largest recall affects 223,472 F-150s built from January 2023 to August 2026. Ford says some trucks were produced with front fuel tank straps that were not properly slotted into the frame.
The issue could allow the fuel tank to become loose and potentially leak. Ford says the problem could also cause the engine to stall or, in the worst case, allow the fuel tank to fall onto the road.
Ford traced the issue to periods when assembly-line cameras were not monitoring the fuel tank straps. Because the problem typically appears early, the recall includes both unsold trucks and vehicles that have only been on the road for a few months.
Ford has recorded 16 warranty claims worldwide involving loose fuel tanks. The company says there have been no crashes or injuries associated with the issue.
37 F-150s Received the Wrong Rear Axle Bearings
The second recall is limited to 37 F-150s built May 27-28, 2026. These trucks were equipped with the wrong rear axle bearings, receiving 8.8-inch bearings instead of the 9.75-inch bearings intended for the Max Tow package.
Ford identified the error at the Sterling Axle Plant, but 37 trucks had already been produced with the incorrect parts.
If not corrected, the wrong bearing could seize and lock the rear wheels, separate the driveshaft or allow the truck to roll away if the parking brake is not set.
17 F-150 Raptors Face Suspension Recall
The third recall involves just 17 2026 F-150 Raptors built between late December 2025 and late January 2026.
Ford says the rear Panhard rod fasteners may not have been properly tightened because a torque-checking device was in bypass mode. Loose fasteners could allow the Panhard rod to shift, affecting handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford began investigating the issue after a dealer discovered a customer’s truck with a loose Panhard rod. The company has identified two warranty claims so far, with no reports of crashes or injuries.
What F-150 Owners Need to Know
All three recalls will be repaired for free at Ford and Lincoln dealers. For the fuel tank recall, dealers will inspect the front straps and replace them if necessary.
Owners affected by the largest recall will begin receiving letters between September 21 and 28, while VIN lookup will be available online starting September 14.
For the 37 trucks with the incorrect rear axle bearings, dealers will install the proper 9.75-inch part. Recall letters will be sent September 21, with VIN lookup also beginning September 14.
For the 17 F-150 Raptors, dealers will replace and properly tighten the Panhard rod fasteners. Owners should receive recall notices between September 15 and 18, while VIN lookup begins September 10.
Owners of 2023-2027 F-150 trucks, particularly those built during the affected production periods, can check their VIN online or contact a Ford dealer to determine whether their vehicle is included in the recalls.
