The Ford Maverick is about to get a dramatic performance upgrade, with Tucci Hot Rods transforming the compact pickup by fitting it with a Ford Mustang GT-derived 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and twin turbochargers. The custom Maverick is expected to produce more than 800 hp and is set to debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November 2026.

This Custom Maverick Could Outmuscle a Stock Mustang GT

The Coyote 5.0-liter V8 is only part of the build. Engineers at Tucci Hot Rods have added twin turbochargers, with the power output expected to exceed 800 hp.

That would give the custom-built Ford pickup roughly 320 more horsepower than a stock Mustang GT and around 300 hp more than the Mustang Dark Horse.

In standard form, the Maverick is offered with two engine options: a 2.5-liter hybrid producing 184 hp and the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which produces 250 hp. The move to an engine producing more than 800 hp represents a major increase over the power available from the factory.

Tucci Hot Rods Has Built a Custom Maverick Before

This is not the first time Tucci Hot Rods has showcased a customized Maverick. The company previously brought a modified Maverick to the SEMA Show in 2021.

That truck featured several exterior changes, including wider fenders, front and rear cab spoilers, and custom turbofan wheels. The body parts were 3D printed by Dom Tucci, the son of Dave Tucci, who owns Tucci Hot Rods.

The earlier build also received ISC coil-overs paired with rear toe links and sway bar links from Massive Speed System to achieve a low ride height. Tucci further fitted the Maverick with a custom Borla cat-back exhaust featuring dual rear carbon fiber tips.

The Maverick Ford Could Have Built

Even without a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8, Ford could have chosen a tuned version of the Maverick instead of the standard Ford EcoBoost engine.

For now, Tucci Hot Rods is taking the Maverick in a far more extreme direction. With more than 800 hp expected from the compact pickup, the new custom build is a substantial departure from the powertrains Ford offers from the factory.
